Sermon text for December 2nd – Luke 10:25-28

Sorry to change things up, but afterward I realized that I should have spend more time on the first command – to love God with all our heart, soul, mind and strength. So we’re going to camp out here at least for the next week, maybe more and spend some time understanding the fullness of that command to love God as well as why:

38 Now as they went on their way, Jesus [1] entered a village. And a woman named Martha welcomed him into her house. 39 And she had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord’s feet and listened to his teaching. 40 But Martha was distracted with much serving. And she went up to him and said, “Lord, do you not care that my sister has left me to serve alone? Tell her then to help me.” 41 But the Lord answered her, “Martha, Martha, you are anxious and troubled about many things, 42 but one thing is necessary. [2] Mary has chosen the good portion, which will not be taken away from her.”

Apple Cup ‘07

Noah & I were given tickets to this year’s Apple Cup between the Cougs and Huskies. Beautiful weather, huge crowd, and the Cougs came from behind to win 42-35 – the winning touchdown coming with 30 seconds left. The capper was riding the shuttle bus back to the park ‘n ride – the lone Cougar representatives amidst a pack of glum, purple-clad, Dawg fans. Left this pastor with a good case of “victory voice” for today’s sermon.
